What is Neuro-Linguistic Programing (NLP), Hypnosis and MER®
NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming, a name that encompasses neurology, language and programming. NLP is a method to understand how our neurological system (neuro) is affected by the language (linguistic) we use and how the representation of that is programmed in our minds (programming) which affects the fundamental dynamics of our mind, body and behavior systems.
NLP originated from John Grinder (whose background was in linguistics) and Richard Bandler (whose background was in mathematics and gestalt therapy) as a modeling system to create and replicate models of human excellence.
Hypnosis has been around for close to 200 years. Unlike what the movies and TV would have you believe…. Under hypnosis, the client retains full control of themselves an they continue to have free will the the ability to make choices throughout the process.
What hypnosis is… It is a trance state characterized by extreme suggestibility, relaxation and heightened imagination. It’s not really like sleep, because the client is alert the whole time and most often seems similar to daydreaming, or the feeling of “losing yourself” in a book or movie. You are fully conscious, but you tune out most of the stimuli around you. You focus intently on the subject at hand, to the near exclusion of any other thought.
Mental And Emotional Release Therapy (MER®) is a technique that is used to help people release negative emotions like anger, fear, sadness, guilt, grief, etc… and also to release limiting decisions which lead to limiting beliefs. The technique allows you to go back and release the root cause of these negative emotions and release other conflicts along the way. In the end the individual will feel better having released this emotional baggage.
Here are some of the many areas in which NLP, MER ®and Hypnosis can help to make positive changes:
